MediaCast Turns 10: A decade of big ideas, bold moves and one brilliant team
Amy Bramman, June, 2025

Ten years - is more than just a number — it’s a substantial amount of time. In fact, some pretty cool and significant events can happen in a decade:

🦴 We replace the cells in our skeleton

🐝 A bee population fully restores

🍷 A fine red wine reaches its best vintage

🎓 A child can complete both high school and a university degree

🏆 An athlete can compete in 2 Olympic Games and 2 Commonwealth Games

While we haven’t focused our energies on restoring a bee population, for MediaCast, it has been a decade of ground-breaking stuff and a whole heap of hard work! Brisbane is MediaCast’s home and where the business has grown and evolved over the last ten years, yet the journey actually started in London in 2013.

MediaCast’s Managing Director, Fran was immersed in the world of broadcast PR, while COO, George was working with OFCOM, the British broadcasting regulator. Despite their contrasting roles, they quickly realised they shared a desire to do things differently — to create something of their own.

Both brought unique skills to the table. Fran’s background in client relations and high-pressure campaign work perfectly complemented George’s experience in systems, operations and the technical side of communications. Within months, they began mapping out a plan to launch a business — not in the saturated London market, but in Australia, where they spotted a clear opportunity in broadcast PR.

A year later, they made the move to Brisbane. What began at a kitchen table with early mornings and tight budgets has since evolved into a nationally recognised PR agency, with three distinct service streams and a growing, high-performing team.

Fran and George’s partnership has been central to MediaCast’s success. Built on mutual trust and respect, they’ve carved out clear roles within the business that allow each of them to focus on their strengths without stepping on toes. Fran’s instinctive, people-first approach is perfectly balanced by George’s methodical attention to detail. While one charges forward, the other ensures the foundation is solid.

Their shared vision has always been to create a business that empowers others. From day one, they agreed MediaCast wouldn’t be about them — it would be about building something sustainable that would allow others to grow, lead, and succeed.

Although started by two individuals, the organisation is now 11 strong consisting of two Account Managers, two Senior Account Executives, two Account Executives and one Communications Assistant all headed up by a Strategic Partnerships Manager and Head of Delivery. Our team is a diverse one with ex journos, health specialists and backgrounds in luxury communications and theatre PR. Our collaborative approach and broad skillset provides a wide breadth of experience for our clients and creates an environment where we’re always learning from and supporting each other.

Over the past year alone, the agency has welcomed seven new retained clients along with 16 projects with new clients and 61 with returning clients. The team has also just wrapped our annual National Volunteer Week campaign for the 10th consecutive year and achieved a huge 2091 items of coverage, with 93.4 million impressions, working with over 40 volunteers across the country. We always strive to top the previous year’s coverage numbers, and this year was no exception!

MediaCast’s 10th year has been a celebration of sustained, strategic growth — and the power of the right partnership setting the foundations for success. From the early days of manually sending emails at 5am to now leading a team of seasoned professionals, Fran and George’s values are still what shines through in every piece of work that we do, and in every interaction, you’ll have with our team!

As we head into our second decade, one thing is clear: the best stories are still to come!
